Starward is a travel magazine for the Reach: the worlds, stations and ships between Ilyr and the edge, and the people who cross between them. We write the stories we want to read before a crossing, and the guides we wish we had read after one.

What we cover

Destinations, from the grey hills of Selka to the ice mountains of Mirren. The stations and ports where journeys change ships. The liners themselves, slow and fast. Practical guides, with prices in marks and the hours things close. And the sky: the Lantern, the aurora, and the reasons things out here look the way they do.

We write the stories we want to read before a crossing.

Who we are

Liora Venn

Destinations editor. Has crossed the Reach eleven times and still books the window seat.

Tomas Arkwright

Ships and journeys. Nine years inspecting hulls at the Halcyon yards.

Ilse Marrow

Science correspondent, and a planetary geologist by training.

Dev Castellan

Practical travel. Once ran a hostel next to the Port Kestrel launch pads.

Saskia Imre

Night-sky editor, on more observatory decks than she can count.

Our pictures

The photographs in Starward are real. They were made by NASA: by its Cassini, Curiosity, New Horizons and Spitzer missions, and by astronauts in orbit. Here they are captioned as the places of the Reach, and every caption carries its credit. The few paintings among them are artist's impressions, and their captions say so.

A demonstration website. Starward shows what pacod-cms can do: an image-led template set, articles with styled blocks and galleries, journal issues, a link page, and advertising. The Reach, its people and its advertisers are invented; nothing here can be booked.
